About the Film

Our documentary explores the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects upon a singular U.S. community, Long Island’s East End.

Composed as a letter from a father to his newborn daughter, “From One to Another,” narrates the story of a community under unprecedented strain: struggling to sustain services under safety restrictions, decrying a lack of affordable housing, reacting to racial violence, and pivoting unevenly in education.

Within these storylines, the documentary highlights the people — caregivers, restaurant workers, farmers, teachers, artists, musicians, business owners, volunteers and more — whose empathy, compassion, and inventiveness showcase a culture adapting to profound and lasting change.

As the virus pushed us apart, it was these people who pulled us together.  We want to honor their stories in this broad reaching oral history project.

As an added benefit of this media project, we will use the footage to create impact videos that will be given free of charge to be used as marketing support for the essential non-profit organizations featured in this film.
